NUMERICAL MODELING OF REGIONAL AND BASIN-SCALE HYDROPHYSICAL PROCESSES OF THE BLACK SEA

Abstract

The paper presents regional and basin-scale numerical baroclinic models of the Black Sea dynamics developed at M. Nodia Institute of Geophysics of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, which are based on the full system of ocean hydrothermodynamic equations. The basin-scale model is implemented for the entire Black Sea using climatic data with a spatial resolution of 5 km, while the regional model, which is the basis of the regional marine forecasting system, is implemented for the Georgian sector of the Black Sea and the adjacent water area with a resolution of 1 km using real data.
