Abstract

In this article the author studies the supply and demand of alternative forms of sustainable tourism in the region of the Middle Rhodopes in Bulgaria. The terms sustainable tourism, its specifics in forest areas and different forms available for practice are established, described and evaluated. The results of a personal study among 261 entrepreneurs and tourists are presented. Finally, based on the data gathered, some conclusions and recommendations are provided to establish the sustainability of tourism in the region and improve its outcomes for both business and guests of the region.
