Some current issues in environmental impact assessment of road construction
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article discusses the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for the construction and operation of motor roads in Georgia, which is regulated by a legislative framework based on the principles of environmental protection and sustainable development. The EIA involves an analysis of potential impacts on natural, social, and cultural factors. Key aspects include land resource management, biodiversity and ecosystem protection, risks of air and water pollution, noise and emissions, preservation of cultural heritage, and assessment of the socio-economic conditions of the local population. The EIA considers both short-term and long-term effects and emphasizes the importance of public awareness and community engagement. This approach ensures compliance with national and international standards, reduces environmental risks, and contributes to the improvement of socio-economic conditions.
