General recommendations for improving the greenery of the Abastumani township
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abastumani is a remarkable mountain-climatic resort that has always attracted interest. However, it drew particular attention from Grand Duke George Alexandrovich of Russia (brother of Nicholas II), who financed the construction of numerous buildings, including the Church of Saint Alexander Nevsky, which is especially interesting from an architectural standpoint and is still considered an active church. The climate and balneological features of Abastumani amaze both casual visitors and those who come for medical treatment. This explains the current government's interest in Abastumani and the extensive work carried out in recent years. Restoration has been completed on buildings constructed at the beginning of the 19th century; roads and squares are being built, and adjacent street areas are being landscaped and improved. The present paper focuses specifically on the greening and urban development carried out in this regard.
